Causes
and treatment
Salpingitis
is a bacterial genital infection. Dr Dédé Benedicta Améwoui, Obstetrician
Gynaecologist, shows that « in many cases, it is due to an STI
(sexually transmitted infection), contracted during unprotected sexual
intercourse. Chlamydia trachomatis is one of the main bacteria responsible. It
is very important to consult a doctor, particularly a gynaecologist ».
If left untreated, this infection of the fallopian tubes can become chronic and
eventually lead to infertility, stresses Dr Dédé Benedicta Améwoui.
