In a communication presented to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday 27 November 2024 by the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, the Head of State instructed the government to implement a rigorous plan for monitoring, maintaining and servicing the equipment intended for health facilities, in order to guarantee its long-term use in the service of the population.

Modern equipment for Togo's hospitals

As part of projects aimed at improving healthcare provision for users, medical equipment and furniture have recently been acquired and deployed in 160 health facilities across all the country's districts, meeting 100% of the needs expressed.  This equipment includes: 7,442 hospital beds, 15 imaging machines, 50 microscopes, 7 medical ambulances, 200 motorbikes, 100 refrigerators, as well as several hundred delivery beds and mechanical and electrical delivery tables, not forgetting laboratory equipment and consumables and office equipment.

According to Pr Tchin Darré, Minister for Health, hospitals that have received new equipment have transferred their existing equipment, which is still in good working order, to lower-level health facilities. Around 20 billion CFA francs have been disbursed for the acquisition of this equipment and material.
