Ginger is a spice with many virtues. In addition to its gustatory qualities, ginger is
renowned for its benefits on digestion, the immune system and nausea. However,
another lesser-known use for ginger is its potential to ease breathing.
Ginger
facilitates natural breathing, maintaining immune balance and optimal activity
in the respiratory tract. This was revealed in a study entitled “Anti-Oxidative
and Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Ginger in Health and Physical Activity: Review
of Current Evidence” published in “International Journal of Preventive
Medicine” (2013).
For
those looking to take care of their respiratory health, ginger offers a good
alternative as it preserves bronchial health9 while contributing to the proper
functioning of the respiratory tract and maintaining optimal secretions in the
tract.
Herbal
therapists usually prescribe ginger infusion to clear the lungs. The
preparation, to be drunk hot, helps the body to expel mucus and other
undesirable substances from the body.
According
to the study “Fresh ginger (Zingiber officinale) has anti-viral activity
against human respiratory syncytial virus in human respiratory tract cell
lines”, published in the “Journal of Ethnopharmacology”, infusion of
ginger also helps to get rid of various types of allergens stored in the lungs.
By infusing 1g of ginger powder in 1/4l of boiling water for 10 minutes, you
obtain a preparation that's perfect for cleansing the lungs. For those who don't
like the strong taste of ginger, a little sugar can be added to the infusion.
Recipe:
Take 1 liter of water, 3 large diced onions, 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder
and 2 tablespoons of ginger powder. Bring the water to the boil, then add the
ginger, turmeric and onion.Leave on a low heat for about 5 minutes. Soften the
taste by adding a tablespoon of honey and stir well. Drink 1 cup morning and
evening before meals.
