Lack
of motivation is a feeling everyone can experience from time to time. For
people living with mental health disorders, this feeling can be even more
challenging. Whether it’s reconnecting with friends, starting a new project, or
engaging in a familiar and enjoyable hobby, it can sometimes be difficult to
find the drive to actively take part in activities that are beneficial for
mental health. This challenge can be even greater when facing mental health
problems.
Break
tasks into manageable parts
Breaking
tasks down into smaller steps leading to the final goal can help manage
overwhelming thoughts about the process. Focusing on the individual steps
needed to complete a project can help you stay present and in the moment.
Write
down every positive thing
Writing
down positive things can help you maintain hope during emotional challenges by
reminding you of memorable moments. This in itself can be motivating.
Celebrate
the small things you do
Be
aware of the small details and congratulate yourself for every task you
complete. Focus on and appreciate each moment and the “little” things you
accomplish, such as getting out of bed or brushing your teeth in the morning.
Each evening, why not try writing down three small victories you achieved that
day, reminding yourself of what you accomplished, no matter how small. It’s
always a source of pride.

time for yourself
Make
time to do what you enjoy and appreciate. Whether it’s exploring your city or
spending time alone in a peaceful place, taking time for yourself can boost
your mental health. It can also be a source of inspiration.

when dealing with low motivation.

present and in the moment can help you focus on the here and now, which is
beneficial when struggling with motivation. Whether it’s taking a short walk
around your neighborhood or trying a new dish, focusing on the present moment
can help.

Talking
about your emotions can benefit your mental health. It’s often the first step
toward overcoming mental health challenges. Some people are willing to listen.
Others prefer to open up to family or friends, while some choose to discuss
their feelings with a healthcare professional, especially a psychologist.
