The cashew nut is the fruit of the cashew tree, a tree about 10 meters high whose trunk is quite tortuous. Rich in good fats, nutrients and vitamins, cashew nuts are beneficial for health. Cashew nuts are part of the oilseed family, as are almonds and hazelnuts. This type of food is known for its ability to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, gallstones and colon cancer.

People with type 2 diabetes can benefit from adding cashews to their diet. This is because they are a source of fiber, which is essential to prevent spikes in blood sugar. They are also low in carbohydrates and, above all, low in sugar. Although further research is needed, a study published in the International Journal of Endocrinology Metabolism showed that diabetics who consume 10% of their daily calories as cashews (about 15 cashews) have lower insulin levels than others.
