Curved
penis, itching, pain - problems with the penis can be varied and sometimes
serious. That's why it's important to learn to recognise the worrying signs.
Here are some problems to look out for.
Any
change in the male genitalia, whether at rest or when erect, should be
investigated to find the cause and initiate treatment.
Curved
penis
According
to some studies, 1 in 9 men have a curved penis. This curvature can cause pain
for both men and women during intercourse. There are two causes of a curved
penis: firstly, a genital curvature: it is present from birth, the curvature
worsens with puberty. The problem can be solved with a surgical operation.
Secondly, Lapeyronie's disease: over time, the penis can suffer micro-fractures
that heal poorly and lead to curvatures at their level. Consult a urologist for
appropriate treatment.
Painful
erections
There
are two types of painful erections: firstly, painful erections caused by
medication or drugs: also known as priapism. This is a phamacological erection
that is prolonged and can be painful. Usually the patient has taken substances
to improve the erection or to make it last longer. Consult a doctor. Secondly,
the natural painful erection, which often consists of a painful erection on
waking. This is most often due to an erection that has lasted a long time
during sleep. This kind of painful erection is then normal, even a sign of good
health.
Swollen
testicles
If
the swelling of the testicles is not painful, it may be a hydrocele. A
fluid-filled sac around a testicle gives the swollen appearance. A urologist
should be consulted in order to analyse the fluid in the pouch and receive
appropriate treatment. If the swelling is painful, it may be a cramp caused by:
trauma or infection if the patient has a fever. Consult a doctor.
Rupture
of the frenulum
The
rupture of the foreskin is sudden and very painful. But it is a common and
benign sexual accident if treated urgently. The foreskin is the skin that
covers the glans at the end of the penis. The two are connected by another
piece of skin: the frenulum. During erection, the glans shifts and the frenulum
tightens. But during sex, if it is too short, it can tear and bleed. To stop
the bleeding, compress the area for at least 10 minutes with a clean compress
and contact a specialist as soon as possible.
Intense
itching
If
the glans area is itchy, stinging or burning, you should notice whitish
deposits. Usually, this itching is caused by a fungus called "Candida
Albicans", which can spread. Do not panic. Consult a dermatologist.
Pain
during sex
If
you feel burning, tingling or pain during sex, it may be due to a lack of
lubrication; if the vagina is not sufficiently lubricated before sex, the skin
of the glans can suffer and become irritated, resulting in burning. This may be
due to sexually transmitted diseases; in the case of fungal infections on the
penis, red patches appear which cause tingling, burning and itching. Consult a
gynaecologist with your wife, who is probably infected. It can also be
Lapeyronie's disease: it is manifested by a curvature of the penis, due to
trauma caused during sexual intercourse. Since it often causes pain during sex,
a specialist should be consulted as soon as possible for effective treatment.
