The
Christian Solidarity Department (DSC) in collaboration with the Health Division
(DS) and the EEPT Health Week Ad Hoc Organizing Committee carried out an
awareness-raising mission from May 02 to 10, 2024 across the ecclesiastical
regions of Southwest (RESO) in Kpalimé, Southeast (RESP)in Atakpamé and
Maritime in Tsévié (REMA). This initiative aims to inform the Regional Councils
and Clergy of these regions about the health policy of the Evangelical
Presbyterian Church of Togo (EEPT) and the celebration of Health Week. It was
carefully planned in consultation with the inspectors of the South-West (RESO),
South-East (RESP) and Maritime (REMA) ecclesiastical regions. The mission
reached a total of 221 participants.
The
awareness-raising team led by the Director of Christian Solidarity, Pasteur
Kodzo Sueto Vouke-Woledzi, included key members of the Health Division, namely
Dr Opportune Djoffon-Elitsa and his Assistant Dodzi Awuito, Presbyter Koffi
Togbonou, a member of the commission, and Basile MIGNAKE, the commission's
Communications Officer and General Manager of Santé-Education. Together, they
visited various localities, including Hihéatro (RESP) on May 02, 2024, Tsévié
Afegame (REMA) on May 08, 2024 and Kpalimé Afegame (RESO) on May 10, 2024.
The
aim of this mission was to sensitize clergy and regional councils on several
aspects such as the health policy of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of
Togo (EEPT), personal responsibility in health matters. During their mission,
the delegation insisted on the obligation of each faithful to take care of his
or her own health, encouraged each parish to establish a health commission to
plan and manage health-related activities, promoted support and financial
backing for the Health Division of the EEPT through its 05 health units, and
created a regional platform to coordinate the health commissions of each
parish.

results
During
these meetings, contacts were established to create communication platforms
(WhatsApp) for regional health commissions, thus facilitating better national
coordination. The meetings saw the active participation of 221 people,
including pastors, catechists and presbyters, demonstrating strong commitment
and interest in the proposed health initiatives.
This
awareness-raising mission marks an important step towards better health care
within ecclesiastical communities in Togo. By promoting the creation of health
commissions in each parish and establishing regional coordination platforms,
the Christian Solidarity Department (DSC) and the Health Division (DS) are
laying the foundations for concerted action to improve the health and
well-being of the faithful.
