Loss of appetite can be caused by a variety of factors, such as stress, gastrointestinal problems, metabolic disorders or even certain medications. Red jatropha is renowned for its stimulating properties on the digestive system. It promotes the production of digestive enzymes. This can improve food digestion and, consequently, stimulate the appetite. Certain compounds in red jatropha act on neurotransmitters in the brain, helping to balance the chemicals responsible for regulating appetite.

A study entitled « Ethnobotanical practices of the Afar populations of the middle Awash valley (Ethiopia) », conducted by researcher E. Le Floc'h and published in the Journal of Pharmacology in 1985, examined the effects of Jatropha multifida on appetite in an Ethiopian community. The results showed an increase in appetite in people using Red Jatropha extracts compared with the control group. The researchers concluded that the compounds present in the plant play a positive role in stimulating appetite.

Another study, « Study of the ethnobotany of West African euphorbiaceae », conducted by the scientist Icole Stäuble in 2003, assessed the effects of Jatropha multifida on the biological mechanisms underlying the regulation of appetite. The findings highlighted a significant interaction between the active compounds in Red Jatropha and certain receptors linked to appetite regulation, suggesting a potential mechanism of action for its beneficial effects.

Recipe: Take 15 « Babatidjin » leaves and a handful of lemongrass leaves.  Place in 1 litre of water. Boil for about 15 minutes. Leave to cool and filter.  Drink 3 glasses a day (morning, noon and evening). Repeat for one (1) month.
