Pain and burning in the anus are generally caused by : hemorrhoids, a swelling of the anal area causing pain and discomfort as well as itching and bleeding; anal fissures, a small sore that causes pain and burning during defecation; infections, due to sexually transmitted diseases such as herpes, gonorrhea or chlamydia; intestinal endometriosis leading to anal and abdominal pain during menstruation.

These pains can also be linked to anal mycosis, caused by fungi such as Candida, abscesses, caused by skin infection or anorectal disease, cancer of the rectum or anus, bowel disease. These symptoms may be accompanied by other unpleasant sensations, bleeding, painful contractions, swelling, abnormal discharge and itching.

What to do about anal pain and burning?

To relieve and prevent anal pain and burning, it's essential to determine the cause.It's best to consult a doctor for a precise diagnosis and prompt treatment.Hemorrhoids, for example, require the use of creams and sitz baths to speed up the healing process. Hygiene rules to follow
