The National Tuberculosis Control Programme (PNLT), as part of the optimisation of the fight against tuberculosis, has organised a programmatic review of tuberculosis in Togo. This review follows on from the work of the epidemiological review and is co-financed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM).

Started on October 17, 2022, the programmatic review of tuberculosis in Togo has seen several activities. Eight teams made up of experts and some health system actors made a field visit during one week to collect information and check the availability of tools at the decentralised level. These teams also had the opportunity to meet with and gather input from the various actors in the fight against tuberculosis and the health system with a view to making improvements.

To agree on the results of this review, a feedback workshop was organised on Friday 28 October 2022 in the room of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Health, Public Hygiene and Universal Access to Health Care. The general objective of the workshop was to validate the results of the programmatic review. More specifically, it was about the presentation of the results of the programmatic review while highlighting the strong points, the points to be improved and the recommendations for the fight against tuberculosis in Togo. Discussions were held on the results obtained by the consultants of the epidemiological review in order to obtain a consensus on the various points mentioned above, namely the strong points, points for improvement and recommendations of the programmatic review.

Consensus obtained, objective achieved. This is the result of exchanges between the participants, the consultants and the coordination of the fight against tuberculosis. The results of these reviews will enable Togo to progress in the fight against tuberculosis. In the next few days, the NTP will move on to develop a new National Strategic Plan (NSP) for the next cycle from 2024 to 2028.
