Nervousness
is one of the most frequently experienced human emotions. It is a state of
excitement during which the nervous system responds in an exaggerated or
disproportionate manner. To calm the nervous system and rebalance the body
mentally and emotionally, certain foods are essential.
A
large number of nutrients are necessary for the proper development of thought,
memory and neurons. Group B vitamins
have the greatest impact on the proper functioning of the nervous system. For
example, vitamin B1 deficiency can lead to depression, while B6 deficiency can
cause nervousness and fatigue.
Wholegrain
cereals
These
foods are rich in vitamins B and E, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, copper and
potassium. Wholegrain bread and oat bran
provide slow sugars to nourish the brain and nerve cells, and help produce
serotonin (the hormone that regulates mood), thus bringing calm and serenity.
Sunflower
seeds
They
contain as much vitamin B1 as wheat germ. People suffering from nervous
disorders such as stress, depression and nervousness will find these little
seeds a great help. These seeds are used in the manufacture of vegetable oils,
which are consumed in markets.
Lettuce
Lettuce
has the following properties: sedative, sleep-inducing and laxative on
functional disorders of the nervous system. Habitual consumption of lettuce
produces a slight and sometimes imperceptible sedation, while providing B
vitamins necessary for good nervous balance.
Avocado
Avocados
contain fats such as linoleic acid and phospholipids, which are essential for
nervous system metabolism. It is also very rich in vitamin B6, one of the most
important for the proper functioning of neurons.
Cashew
nuts
Its
magnesium content is involved in many metabolic functions, but above all in the
transmission of nerve impulses. Magnesium deficiency leads to nervousness.
Cashews are also rich in vitamins B1 and B2, which are essential for nervous
stability.
Peas
Peas
are a highly nutritious food, rich in group B vitamins and minerals necessary
for the proper functioning of the nervous system. They are ideal for nervous
weakness, irritability, nervousness and other functional disorders.
Passion
fruit
Although
its sedative action is much milder than that of passionflower leaves and
flowers, it is suitable for anyone wishing to calm their nervous system.
Other
recommended habits
Avoid
in case of nervousness : stimulating drinks such as coffee, energy drinks,
alcoholic beverages and white sugar. Eat a good breakfast to avoid hypoglycemia
(lack of blood sugar), which usually occurs mid-morning and causes nervousness
and irritability. Eat at regular times to avoid sudden drops in blood glucose
levels. Get enough sleep on a regular basis. Take part in physical or sporting
activities, especially walking.
