Bananas

It has mild anti-inflammatory properties and prevents viruses from coming into contact with mucous membranes. A good chicken soup can include carrots, onions, celery, turnips, potatoes and garlic.

Both garlic and onions contain sulphur compounds that have an expectorant and mucolytic action, meaning they help to expel mucus from the respiratory tract. They are considered to be powerful natural antibiotics, capable of fighting viral and bacterial infections, thus relieving the symptoms of sore throats.
