On December 2, 2025, the Project to Strengthen Essential Health Services,
Quality and Equity, and Universal Health Coverage (SSEQCU Togo) provided
thirty-nine (39) Peripheral Healthcare Units (USP) with new biomedical
equipment. This new infrastructure is located in sixteen (16) prefectures in
the Central, Kara, and Savanes regions.
The operation was led by teams from the Ministry of Health. This action
consists of installing the equipment and training medical staff in its use. The
goal is to make these centers operational as soon as possible. This now guarantees
local care for the population. The intervention is part of Component 2 of the
SSEQCU Togo Project. This component is entitled “Bringing health facilities
and services closer to households.” It ensures the supply of equipment to
newly built facilities. The SSEQCU Togo Project is being implemented by the
Togolese government with support from the World Bank. Its goal is to improve
access to essential care for women, children, and vulnerable groups. The
program is based on five major pillars and seeks to increase the supply and
demand for quality health and nutrition services. He is also working to
consolidate the national social health insurance system in order to build a
fairer and more accessible healthcare system for all and achieve universal
health coverage.
