The festive period is
usually marked by excess food and weight gain. We consume too much alcohol and
foods rich in sugars and fats. How to combine pleasure and health during the festive
period? What foods should be preferred? Here are some dietary tips offered by
Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo, Nutritionist-State Dietician, Specialist in Clinical
Nutrition and Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.
The festive period is fast approaching. A friendly, pleasant time
for the pleasure of the taste buds. But between indigestion, excess and fear of
gaining weight, these moments can be stressful for some when it comes to
managing food. So it is important to ensure a good digestion and say goodbye to
digestive disorders after the holidays.
Think about fibers
Foods rich in fiber help
maintain a good balance in the intestine and improve digestion. « So
don’t hesitate to eat fruit at the end of the meal, and add as many vegetables
as possible to the main course. So eat enough fruits and vegetables »,
recommends Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo, State Nutritionist-Dietician.
Stay hydrated
To be more effective, fibers need water. Moreover, says
Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo, State Nutritionist-Dietician, increasing her fiber
intake without increasing fluid intake can lead to constipation. To be sure to
drink between 1.5 and 2 liters of water per day, why not enjoy the virtues of
herbal teas? The best herbal teas to promote digestion are those based on
ginger, peppermint, citrus.
Filling up with good
bacteria
« Helping your gut helps reduce the risk of digestive problems and constipation. To increase its intake of probiotics and prebiotics, make sure to have yogurt, garlic and onion on the plate » , says Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo, Specialist in Clinical Nutrition and Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition. Otherwise, ask the pharmacist for lactic ferments.
A smoothie for the intestine
The consumption of beets is highly recommended for better digestion. « When you have a big meal planned, you can start the day with a smoothie made with beets, carrots, ginger, cucumbers, strawberries and celery to boost the body and prepare it for the evening », says Zerbo.
Sport to help the body
Once you get off the table and get your taste emotions back, your body will probably need help to function properly. « So physical activity is absolutely recommended. Avoid doing too much, so you don’t risk getting sick. Some sports such as walking, for example, help regulate intestinal transit and reduce symptoms associated with possible inflammation », advises Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo, Specialist in Clinical Nutrition and Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition.
Eating
well during the festive period
With
reunion, joy, sharing… many tend to nibble a lot, we do not sort out what we
eat. So we have to be careful what we eat during the holidays. However, every
year, the organization is tested during the holidays. Sandrine Yasmine Zerbo,
State Nutritionist and Dietitian, Clinical Nutrition Specialist and Enteral and
Parenteral Nutrition: Choose healthy, balanced and varied foods. Eat less
fat, less salty and sweet. Avoid industrial foods because they are often too
salty and sweet. Prefer homemade meals. Consume enough vegetables, fruits and
seafood because they are less caloric and rich in nutrients. It is also
advisable to eat delicious, healthy, balanced and varied dishes during the
holidays. Whether chicken, fish, meat, avoid putting too much oil, too much
salt and too many peppers, no excess. The diet should be balanced. Accompany the
main dishes with vegetables and fruits. Pay attention to alcohol. You can drink
it but in moderation. Know that the more you drink, the more you eat because
alcohol increases the feeling of hunger. For those who want, opt for wine,
champagne and consume less good beers, sparkling and liqueurs.
