A dry cough is triggered by the activation of nerve
receptors in the airways, often in response to irritating or inflammatory
stimuli. According to research published in « Respiratory Medicine »
and the « Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology », this
sensation of coughing without producing mucus is mediated by complex neural
reflexes involving centres in the brain and spinal cord.
Studies
in journals such as the « International Journal of Molecular Sciences »
and the « Journal of Apicultural Research » have documented
honey's antibacterial properties: honey is a natural remedy with medicinal
properties. It can be used to treat a range of ailments, including colds, dry
coughs and respiratory problems. Here are some remedies to relieve and treat
coughs. And don't hesitate to consult a doctor.
Recipe 1: To soothe a night-time cough, take it directly
from a spoon, 3 times a day. This solution is effective for a dry cough that is
not very intense, particularly in the absence of other symptoms such as nasal
congestion or a cold.
Recipe 2: Simply heat a glass or cup of water, then add
the juice of a lemon and a teaspoon of honey. Stir and drink. You can take 3 to
4 cups a day.
Recipe 3: Bring ½ litre of water to the boil with 8
cloves of crushed garlic. Once the mixture is boiling, remove from the heat and
drain.Add 2 tablespoons of honey. Take one or two spoonfuls a day before
breakfast or with your main meal.
Recipe 4: Squeeze the juice of one lemon and put 1
teaspoon of ground ginger, 1 tablespoon of honey and 4 cups of water into a
blender.Blend until you obtain a syrup.Take a spoonful of the syrup before
breakfast in the morning, for as long as the cough persists.
