Oral hygiene is important, and not just for your smile. « The Journal of Dentistry » has reported the findings of a study which suggests that bacteria known to cause mouth infections are also likely to promote the development of potentially fatal brain abscesses. Admittedly, this type of abscess is fairly rare, but it is potentially very dangerous. Streptococcus anginosus is a bacterium that can cause pharyngitis and infections of internal organs such as the brain, lungs and liver. This bacterium is often found in dental abscesses. So it's important to improve dental care and oral hygiene.
