A study published in the « European Respiratory Journal » shows the benefits of consuming at least three fruits a day to preserve your lungs from aging. As lung function begins to decline at the age of 30, researchers at John Hopkins University (USA) are showing the benefits of a fruit-rich diet for lung health. This is thanks to the antioxidants and flavonoids contained in the fruits.  The health benefit of fruits is valid for all, but it is even more important for people who have smoked during their lifetime. The latter are exposed to the risk of suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 80% of this disease is caused by tobacco. There is no treatment.

Recipe: 3 oranges, 1 grapefruit, 1 root of fresh ginger, 1 lemon. First, peel the oranges, keeping the white skin on them. Cut the lemon in half, keeping the skin intact. Place the lemon slices in the juice extractor, alternating with the oranges, then the ginger and grapefruit. This facilitates the passage of fruits that have more difficulty to extract the juice. Mix with a spoon and drink immediately. The juice can also be stored for about 24 hours in the refrigerator in a glass bottle.
