Bronchitis
is an inflammation of bronchi of viral or bacterial origin, or secondary to
toxic products; the bronchus is therefore the tube in which air circulates in
the lungs. In Togo, Acute Respiratory Infections of the child (IRA), especially
bronchitis, are one of the first causes of medical consultation in pediatrics.
What are among the causes, people at risk and complications, of this disease
which remains a very common condition.
There
are two types of bronchitis: acute bronchitis, which is linked to acute
inflammation of the bronchus and whose signs appear a few days after the
inflammation, chronic bronchitis where the phenomenon lasts several months or
even several years.
What
are the causes and risk factors?
Acute
bronchitis is usually of infectious origin mainly viral (Coronavirus,
Rhinovirus, Adenovirus, Myxovirus influenzae) and bacterial. Chronic bronchitis
is caused by inhalation of irritants such as tobacco smoke, fine particles,
especially during periods of high pollution, toxic gases such as insecticides,
herbicides.
A
number of occupations predispose to bronchitis: metallurgical or chemical
industries, textile industries (inhalation of cotton dust), handling of old
rags, plant processing industries (manufacture of cigarette paper, insulating
panels, cake, fertilizers), flour inhalation in bakers or moldy hay in farmers,
mining industries, stone quarries... Bronchitis can also have an allergic
origin due to vegetable, animal or mineral dust.
Is
bronchitis contagious?
Yes.
Acute bronchitis can be contagious. Chronic bronchitis is not. People at risk
are usually: children, the elderly, asthmatics, people with pulmonary emphysema
or heart failure. These last two groups of people have bronchi blocked by
secretions, which helps to promote infections.
How
does it manifest?
Symptoms
include fever, soreness, intense fatigue. On the respiratory plane one will
have a cough first dry quinteuse to which is associated chest pain generally
related to the cough. Gradually this cough will become greasy and therefore
productive. But what must alert the most is especially the appearance of
breathing difficulty.
Is
bronchitis dangerous?
Acute
bronchitis is a generally benign condition that heals spontaneously from a few
days to a few weeks. But it can sometimes present complications requiring
medical management such as bronchial superinfection and pneumonia. But today, you still have to see a doctor. Chronic bronchitis
is dangerous especially in its obstructive form, much more common in chronic
smokers, since it causes chronic respiratory failure. If a person can’t
breathe, there’s no life.
What
could be the complications?
Complications
include: infection with bacteria (pneumonia) especially for acute
bronchitis. We can observe respiratory failure, decompensation, that is, aggravation of the
symptoms of other pathologies including pulmonary or cardiac for chronic
bronchitis.
What
are the means of prevention?
Wash hands regularly before eating to avoid swallowing germs they may be carrying. Put your hand in front of your mouth before coughing to avoid contaminating others or coughing into a tissue. Wear a mask or nose mask regularly, Regularly ventilate your apartment or home. Treatment for bronchitis is based on bed rest. Vaccinate against Covid-19 or influenza especially for people at risk. Avoid smoking whether it is active or passive. Consult instead if symptoms do not improve and other symptoms such as difficulty breathing appear.
These recipes can accompany any pharmaceutical treatment as a dietary supplement.

Recipe

Strain and pour into a glass jar. Once completely cooled, put and keep this
mixture in the refrigerator. Take 2 tablespoons of the melding morning and
afternoon, two hours after a meal. Always consult a health care professional if
your respiratory problems and associated symptoms are persistent and without
improvement.
