The
clitoris is an organ of the female genital system. Long restricted to its only
visible part, the glans, the clitoris is in reality a complex, largely hidden
organ. Often dubbed the « organ of pleasure », it in fact has only
one function: to give a woman pleasure. The clitoris is now recognized as the
seat of female orgasm.
Of
all the organs, it is the clitoris that most consistently gives pleasure to
women. Its role in female pleasure has been known for a very long time.
Hippocrates is said to have paid tribute to the clitoris when he decreed that,
in order to procreate, a woman had to experience pleasure, and that it was
therefore necessary to provide it. According to the latest research, the
clitoris has around 8,000 nerve fibers. In reality, the dorsal nerve of this
organ contains 20% more, or 10,000, reports « Futura Sciences ».
A
highly innervated organ
The
lack of interest in female pleasure was reflected in the absence of studies on
the clitoris for many years. It wasn't until 1998 that its anatomy was properly
described, revealing a complex organ far removed from the idea of a small
excrescence located just under the skin at the corner of the labia majora.
Almost
10 cm long, it has two highly innervated arches and bulbs that extend into the
body. Only the « head » is effectively accessible from the outside.
Both arches are composed of cavernous and erectile tissue, just like the penis.
The
clitoris is indeed the trigger of pleasure.Soliciting this organ during
intercourse will, in the vast majority of cases, trigger an orgasm. And if
vaginal penetration can also lead to orgasm, it's because the movement of the
penis stimulates the inner part of the clitoris. In fact, the arches of the
clitoris are in close contact with the urethra and vaginal wall, as if they
were a single functional unit.
Alchemy
But
the clitoris isn't everything. Some women express a different, very intense
pleasure with deep vaginal penetrations, with no apparent link to the clitoris.
The complexity and intimacy of the links between the different parts of the
female sexual organs is not yet well understood. So there are other sources of pleasure
besides clitoral stimulation. Provided you're curious about your body. For
women, pleasure is a veritable alchemy.
