The female genitalia is one of the most talked-about organs on social networks. Many content creators advise women and young girls to use certain practices, such as inserting aloe vera, cloves, alum stone, olive oil, lemon, etc. into their genitals to shrink them or become virginal again.

The female genital tract is one of the most sensitive parts of a woman's body. Its anatomy (the size and shape of the vulva), like all other parts of the human body, differs from one woman to another. During sexual intercourse, the female genital tract undergoes a slight enlargement under the effect of arousal, as does the male genital tract.

According to Dr Jean-Christophe Ayao, obstetrician-gynaecologist at the « La Harpe de David » clinic in Lomé, the public's fears about enlargement, especially among men, are an illusion. « Many men attribute this to the fact that women certainly have a huge list of partners in the course of their sexual lives.This prejudice regularly leads to misunderstandings in the relationship and eventually to separation. However, other factors, such as age and pregnancy, can also cause the female genital tract to enlarge », explains Dr Jean-Christophe Ayao.

Consequences of these tips on the female genital tract

In most cases, these substances contain elements that can destroy the vaginal flora. This is what Dr Paule Vinolia Moko, a general practitioner, explains using the example of lemon: « Lemon is an acid.Unlike the female genital tract, which has a pH of around 5 and lemons have a pH of 2.5, lemons will destabilise the pH of the genital tract, making the vaginal environment more susceptible to infection. The fact that lemon is acidic will cause irritation to the vaginal mucosa because the genital area is more sensitive than other parts of the body. It will tend to dry out the vaginal mucous membranes, giving the impression that the vagina has been tightened when this is not the case ».

There is no right shape for the female genital tract. However, for women who are already mothers, or young girls wishing to tighten their genital tract, there are several surgical operations available. However, it is advisable to ensure that they are carried out correctly to avoid further illnesses or complications.
