After
the greater Lomé area, the Institut National d'Assurance Maladie (INAM) is in
the Kara region from July 13 to 21, 2024 for a free medical consultation and
awareness campaign on universal health insurance. The aim of this health
initiative is not only to provide healthcare to the population, but also to
obtain reliable health data on vulnerable people, so that the medical
assistance scheme can be implemented in the near future.
The Institut National d'Assurance Maladie (INAM) is pursuing its commitment to health with a new medical consultation campaign running from July 13 to 21, 2024 in the Kara region. The new campaign follows a successful first phase in Greater Lomé. INAM initiative is coupled with an awareness-raising campaign on Universal Health Insurance. This health initiative has a dual objective. On the one hand, it aims to bring free health care to the population of the Kara region, and on the other, it collects reliable health data from vulnerable people. This information will be crucial for the upcoming implementation of the medical assistance scheme.
Raising
awareness of Universal Health Insurance
During
this operation, the people of the Kara region will be informed and made aware
of how Universal Health Insurance (UHI) works.AMU is a system designed to
guarantee all citizens equitable access to quality healthcare, regardless of
their socio-economic situation. INAM teams will explain the benefits of AMU,
how to register and the services covered, while answering questions from local
residents.
The
campaign will take place in several localities in the Kara region.INAM's mobile
medical teams will offer free consultations, including routine check-ups,
screening for common illnesses, and personalized medical advice. This initiative
aims to reach as many people as possible, particularly the most vulnerable
populations and those living in remote rural areas.
Medical
consultation and expected impact
The
care offered by INAM includes medical consultation, medication, screening for
high blood pressure, hepatitis B and diabetes, as well as health advice.
In
addition to providing immediate medical care, this campaign is an opportunity
for INAM to collect valuable data on the health status of the local
population. This data will help identify specific health needs and tailor future
interventions accordingly. In addition, raising awareness of universal health
insurance aims to increase enrolment rates and promote a better understanding
of the system among citizens.
The
free medical consultation and awareness campaign on universal health insurance
in the Kara region is an important initiative by INAM to improve public health
and promote equitable access to healthcare.
The
current free medical consultation campaign is organized by INAM in partnership
with the National Order of Doctors of Togo (ONMT), the African Center for Research in Epidemiology and Public Health (CARESP) and the National Agency for Voluntary Work in Togo (ANVT).
