Several
chronic illnesses block sexuality. This can be directly due to physical
problems that prevent sexual intercourse or induced by medication. Excitement
is harder to achieve, leading to erectile dysfunction in men and vaginal
dryness in women.
As
soon as the body suffers, whether physically or psychologically, the couple's
sexuality suffers. A wall can be created between husband and wife if there is
no communication. Here are just three chronic conditions that can lead to
sexual problems.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis
is a chronic disease characterised by the presence of fragments of uterine
mucosa, the endometrium, outside the uterus. In the intimate sphere, this
results in pain during sexual intercourse and during menstruation. In addition,
the treatments administered, which are hormonal in the majority of cases, cause
a loss of desire due to a drop in libido. In addition to the physical pain,
there is also psychological pain.
Depression
There
are several types of depression: chronic, acute, seasonal or reactionary,
linked to a traumatic event.Antidepressants are used to treat this
psychological disorder. Most of them inhibit desire by reducing libido. The aim
of these drugs is to stabilise mood by acting on the neurotransmitters,
serotonin and dopamine, that regulate it.As a result, treatment can reduce
libido surges. This causes a lack of excitement. More rarely, depressed people
may increase their sexual rate to compensate for their state of depression.
Diabetes
Diabetes
is a chronic cardiovascular disease that impairs the passage of blood through
the blood vessels. It leads to erectile dysfunction.A drop in libido is also
observed. Anxiety about sexuality can appear and create real blockages.
For
these three types of chronic pathology, a sexologist or psychologist should be
consulted. This is to get advice on how to deal with sexuality more
effectively.
