On
14 March 2025, the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, Professor Tchin
Darré, inaugurated the Binaparba Peripheral Care Unit (USP), located in the
commune of Bassar 1. This inauguration is a prelude to the transformation of
the USP into a Medical-Social Centre, to enable it to provide and improve
access to quality care for the population and the surrounding area.
The
rehabilitation of the USP in Binaparba required an investment of 93 million
FCFA, financed by the State. The funds were used to renovate the care and
maternity buildings, build staff accommodation, a health block and an
incinerator, and purchase new equipment. This transformation was carried out as
part of the SSEQCU project, coordinated by Colonel Professor Bagny.
The
Binaparba USP occupies an important place in the history of the health system
in the Kara region. It played a major role in the vaccination of women and
children in the 70s and 80s, and served as a health centre for remote
populations. The population of Binaparba
and the surrounding area is invited to take advantage of this new centre, to
participate in its co-management and to keep it clean. The refurbishment and transformation into a
medical and social centre will help to perpetuate this tradition of service and
improve access to healthcare for future generations. This project is part of the
Togolese government's drive to improve universal health coverage.
