Working in a seated position for eight hours a day is a serious health hazard. Yet this has been the lot of more and more employees worldwide since technology revolutionized data transfer and task organization in the professional world.  Nowadays, most people travel by motorized vehicle, working all day in front of a computer screen. An unprecedented level of sedentariness. A change from our original dynamic, which is obviously not without consequences.  To compensate, the average worker turns to a motor activity: sport, running, cycling, fitness, swimming.

Exercise is generally not enough to “cancel out” the effects of contemporary immobility. Is half an hour's jogging better than an hour's walk? Not necessarily. Above all, we need to rethink our relationship with movement, focusing not on exercise but rather on a solution designed to eradicate this tendency towards minimal physical effort. Half an hour's walking instead of half an hour's sitting on the sofa reduces the risk of mortality by 17%. It's a good idea to alternate periods of seated work with “motor” breaks. The body needs it. Your health depends on it.
