Reflexology
is an ancient, holistic practice that aims to stimulate the reflex zones of the
feet, hands and sometimes the ears, to promote health and general well-being.
Odoh AKoua Line discovered reflexology out of curiosity. She saw it as a more
holistic approach to helping patients regain their physical and emotional
balance. She followed a rigorous training programme that gave her in-depth
knowledge of the body's reflex zones and gentle manipulation techniques.
AKoua Line Odoh practises reflexology, a natural therapy based on the links between certain areas of the body and specific reflex zones on the feet or hands. Reflexology can be defined as a complementary method of care which, by simply pressing the fingers on a particular point, acts at a distance on an organ or part of the body. Line doesn't just love her job, she's really embraced it. ‘When I started out, I knew nothing about reflexology. I got into the profession out of curiosity and then decided to train,’ she explains. This decision came after her contract with her previous employer was terminated, at a time when she was looking for a new career path.
Motivation
: results and testimonials
What
motivates Line in her job is seeing her patients recover and regain their
health. “What motivated me to choose this profession was to see someone get
out of bed and be able to say ‘I'm fine’.The results and the testimonials from
my patients are my greatest source of motivation”, she confides. The first
patient she treated successfully was the trigger for her professional
commitment. For her, reflexology isn't just physical; it involves a
transmission of energy and a real gift of self.
A
typical day as a reflexologist
A
busy day for Line often involves complicated cases, where it's essential to put
patients at ease before starting treatment. In order to manage her schedule
efficiently, she makes appointments the day before and also offers home and
clinic treatments for patients with specific needs.‘Clients always come by
appointment,’ she explains, which allows her to manage her time and resources
as efficiently as possible.
Memorable
moments
Among
the many memories of her career, the most beautiful is that of Mum Geneviève, a
stroke victim, who managed to stand up from the very first reflexology session
and was completely cured after three months of treatment. On the other hand, her
worst memory is of an old lady who relieved herself in the middle of a session,
a delicate situation which underlined for Akoua Line the importance of home
care.
The
role of reflexology in access to healthcare
Line
Odoh is convinced that her profession contributes to people's health by
offering an alternative form of care that complements conventional medicine. She
points out that reflexology helps the body to heal itself and maintain its
balance. For her, ‘integrating natural and complementary medicine into the
Togolese health system is essential if we are to meet the needs of the
population’.
Challenges
and solutions
There
is no shortage of challenges in this profession, not least the fact that
patients often consult a reflexologist as a last resort, having tried
everything else.‘They demand miracles, are often impatient and give up,’ she
laments. Line Odoh stresses the importance of patience and trust in this
therapy in order to achieve good results.
Combining
work and family life
According
to Line, it's perfectly possible to combine her work as a reflexologist with
her roles as a wife and mother.‘It's a question of planning and understanding
between spouses,’ she says.A well-equipped reflexology centre. Odoh Akoua Line
works with a medical assistant and stresses the importance of a well-equipped
reflexology centre, including sanitary facilities for the comfort of clients.
Contributions
to the health system
If
she were a health authority, Akoua Line Odoh would ensure that natural medicine
was integrated into the health system. She is convinced that this comprehensive
approach, which takes into account the physical, mental, psychological and
emotional aspects, is essential for the well-being of the population.
Gratitude
and support
Odoh
Akoua Line expresses her gratitude to those who have supported her career, in
particular Komlan Nolitsè and Jonny Akue, as well as Santé-Éducation. These
people played a key role in promoting reflexology and opening her practice.
A
message of encouragement
His
message to the public is clear: ‘Reflexology is a complementary therapy that
helps the body to take charge of itself. It promotes good blood circulation,
releases toxins and eliminates stress. I encourage everyone to make reflexology
part of their routine for better health.
Odoh
Akoua Line's dedication and passion for reflexology are making an effective
contribution to the health and well-being of her patients. Her inspiring career
and her recommendations show the way towards the harmonious integration of
natural medicine into the Togolese health system.
