Hypertension
is a chronic disease. It is defined by an increase in pressure in the arteries.
Cardiologists speak of the benefits of certain fruits for heart health. In
fact, in addition to a healthy, balanced diet, certain fruits can be
particularly good for protecting or defending against high blood pressure.
These fruits are beneficial for blood pressure thanks to their high potassium
content, antioxidants and cardio-protective nutrients. They should be part of a
balanced diet for better cardiovascular health.
Bananas
Bananas
contain 320 mg of potassium, a mineral essential for the functioning of muscles
such as the heart. A diet rich in potassium is therefore recommended for people
with high blood pressure. Potassium is recognized for its ability to reduce the
effects of sodium in the body and ease tension in blood vessel walls.
Orange
Oranges
are an excellent source of vitamin C and flavonoids, antioxidants that
contribute to cardiovascular health. Vitamin C improves endothelial function,
i.e. the inner lining of blood vessels. This helps vasodilate and reduce blood
pressure.
Avocado
The
avocado “Péya” in Ewé contains dietary fiber and unsaturated fats, both of
which are linked to cardiovascular health. What's more, avocados contain
potassium, which helps offset some of the adverse effects of sodium on blood
pressure. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, don't hesitate to include
avocado in your diet.
Dates
Dates
are rich in potassium. According to studies, dates are rich in carbohydrates, a
source of good energy for the body, and low in fat. It's a fruit with strong
antioxidant capacity for organ protection. In addition to potassium, it
contains magnesium, phosphorus and calcium. This makes it a protector against
hypertension, heart attacks and stroke. Take 1 to 2 a day.
