The first edition of the Health and Well-being Fair, called HUMANIS, kicked off at CETEF Togo 2000 on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. This ambitious event aims to make health a shared national priority, a right accessible to all, and a lever for development for the country. The opening ceremony was presided over by Koffi Vignon Messan, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Trade, Crafts, and Local Consumption.

A unique forum for a national ambition

From its launch, the HUMANIS exhibition has established itself as much more than just an exhibition. For CETEF Director General Alexandre De Souza, beyond the social context, this exhibition is a movement, a call to action for health that begins in homes and schools, not just in hospitals. « We are organizing this fair with the Ministry of Sports and Leisure and the Ministry of Access to Healthcare. For its opening, the fair has created the largest temporary hospital in Togo. It is a setting for meetings and consultations between all healthcare stakeholders, » he explains. For the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, Dr. Wotogbé, « This fair is a valuable opportunity to raise awareness among the population about access to care and available health techniques. »

« This fair is a valuable opportunity to raise public awareness about access to healthcare and the health technologies available. » The fair also highlights the link between health and the economy. It is a fair for innovation, job creation, services, and opportunities.

Strengthening primary care at the heart of the debate

In addition to the exhibition, the fair featured a major inaugural conference, which preceded the opening and visit to the stands. It focused on strengthening primary health care. This theme was presented by Professor Bagny A. Yves. Healthcare is the foundation of any effective healthcare system. Essential healthcare is provided at the grassroots level, within communities. To achieve universal health coverage, it is essential to invest in these services.

« It is important to understand that today, we cannot talk about an effective healthcare system without primary healthcare. It is the foundation, the basis. Primary health care is even the cornerstone of our various health systems, » said the professor. He highlighted three levers for achieving this: strong political commitment, robust financing, and community participation. Togo has made primary health care the foundation of its health system. However, the biggest challenge remains financial.

Until September 14, CETEF will become a hub for healthcare and learning. Lomé hospitals will be present. The program offers exhibitions, free consultations and screenings, blood donation sessions, conferences, workshops, and sports activities for all ages.
