Some people may experience panic only once in their lifetime, while others experience it repeatedly. An anxiety attack is characterized by a multitude of symptoms that occur suddenly and intensely: palpitations, a feeling of suffocation, dizziness, excessive sweating, chills, tremors, and numbness. Each individual reacts differently to stress. Stress can cause headaches or stomachaches, for example. An anxiety attack is also a form of reaction to stress during an emotionally charged period. This could be a change of school or university, feeling uncomfortable at school, or questions about the future.

To prevent anxiety or limit its impact, the first step is to breathe properly. This involves breathing from the diaphragm and prolonging the exhalation. This leads to a feeling of relaxation. Regular practice of a breathing technique allows you to reap the benefits more effectively in times of high stress.

When stress occurs, focus your attention not on your physical symptoms but on your environment. Talk to a doctor about it. You can also find support from psychotherapists.
