Health-Education
presented on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 in Lomé, the report of its 7th edition
of the Well-being and Health Market in Togo (MaBEST). This meeting also served
as the framework for the official launch of the 8th edition, announced under
the concept "One Health". Between encouraging quantitative results
and new community ambitions, Health Education reaffirms its role as a pillar in
promoting preventive behavior in Togo.
The
7th edition of MaBEST, held last November, showed convincing results thanks to
an increased proximity strategy. The report shows that 900 resellers have been
sensitized and screened in the markets of Totsi and Hanoukopé, as well as 210
young learners educated in good food choices. “Our targets are starting to
integrate the need for physical activity and restful sleep. Young people, in
particular, now understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle for their
future. We have reached more than 10,000 people through digital, proving that
our message of health empowerment resonates sustainably," says Gadiel
Tsonyadzi, coordinator of MaBEST.
Towards a regulation of the nutritional
sector
Beyond awareness, this edition marked the history of the sector by organizing the first congress dedicated to food supplements. This initiative led to the creation of the Association of Promoters and Producers of Nutritional Products (A3PNT). This structure is the starting point for a more rigorous regulation aimed at guaranteeing quality, certification and protection of Togolese consumers.
MaBEST 2026: 'One Health' for global
health
Building
on its successes, the 8th edition appropriates the concept of "One
Health", recognizing the interdependence between man, animal and their
environment. Basile Mignake, chairman of the MaBEST organizing committee,
stressed the urgency of this approach: "More than 60% of emerging
infectious diseases come from animals. It is essential to raise awareness about
animal health directly related to ours and our living environment. We plan to
offer neighbourhood-based veterinary services and build the capacity of
journalists on these critical issues.”
For
this new stage, three priority areas are defined: households through local
actions, the professional environment in administrative centers, and young people,
levers of change. By leaving fixed platforms to go to the heart of communities,
MaBEST 2026 promises a total immersion for a sustainable and collective
well-being in Togo.
