Everyone
is different, and we don't all have the same expectations when it comes to
sexual satisfaction. Whether you're a man or a woman, your desire for sex
varies depending on the individual, the time of day, or the period you're going
through. So how can you tell if you are at the peak of your sexual form or if
you are ‘below average’? Here are some signs that prove you have a happy and
fulfilling sex life.
It
is rare to associate long-term relationships with phenomenal harmony within the
couple. However, many couples have discovered how to spice up their sex life,
even after several years of living together.
Making
love often
Sex
is the glue that holds any couple together. Those who make love often and
experiment with new sensations, positions or locations are generally happier
together and stay together longer.
Loving
your body
A
healthy sex life starts with self-confidence. If you love your body, you will
want to have sex more. An American study published in the Journal of Sexual
Medicine showed that among women aged 18 to 49, those who are most confident
about their physical appearance are the most sexually satisfied. Positive
thoughts about weight, physical condition, or sexual attractiveness during sex
promote healthy sexual relationships. Conversely, if you have a poor image of
your body or health, your sex life may be less fulfilling.
Communicate
a lot
A
fulfilling sex life depends on the couple's ability to communicate, talking
about their sexual desires, fantasies, or particular desires. Even if it is not
always easy to communicate smoothly, we know how to understand our husband or
wife and read their reactions in order to respond accordingly.
Showing
your wife or husband that you desire them
The
husband always tells his wife that he desires her, and vice versa. Compliment
your wife or husband by telling them they are beautiful or sexy, either
verbally or via flirty text messages. If the husband tends to hug his wife
often, and vice versa, kiss her and easily engage in sexual conversations or
acts, then the couple has a happy sex life. An American study published in the
Journal of Integrated Social Sciences concluded that specific sexual
behaviours, such as kissing or naughty words, are more closely linked to
greater sexual satisfaction. However, this satisfaction is also linked to good
communication between husband and wife.
You
are happy with your wife or husband
Generally,
a happy romantic relationship corresponds to a happy sex life. An American
study published in the Journal of Sexual Behaviour found that for middle-aged
and older couples who had been in relationships for 1 to 51 years, happiness as
a couple and sexual satisfaction reinforced each other.
Couples
break the routine
Sex
can become routine in a relationship. If both partners take the initiative to
break habits and find new things to try, they can increase their wife or
husband's sexual excitement and pleasure. Be careful, though, trying something
new doesn't necessarily mean trying anal sex... It can be more subtle changes,
such as varying the rhythm or setting a romantic mood.
The
couple doesn't count
Not
all couples have the same rhythm, from once a week to once a month, there's no
point in counting. It's not productive for your sex life. You have to keep your
self-confidence. Even if the quality of sex can vary greatly in frequency, the
important thing is mutual satisfaction.
A
study published in the Journal of Economic Behaviour & Organisation showed
that increased frequency of sexual intercourse does not lead to greater
satisfaction or happiness in a relationship.
The
couple has plans together.
If
you are one of those couples who have plans for the future, whether near or
far, these plans help you move forward and make you want to continue together.
Life as a couple can become boring if you don't have any plans together.
Couples who dream and give themselves the means to achieve their common goals
are more connected. They tend to stay on the same wavelength.
These
plans can be simple to do together: planning and thinking about the children's
future, visiting the in-laws, going for a bike ride, eating at a beach
restaurant, going to the cinema, spending a weekend on a farm.
Make
each other laugh
You
know the saying, ‘A woman who laughs is halfway into your bed’? If you have a
good laugh with your husband or wife and it's mutual, you're more likely to
have a lasting relationship. Between fits of laughter and little jokes, humour
brings people closer together.
Know
how to argue
Even
if you're more the make-up than make-out type, arguments do happen. However,
it's important to prevent these arguments from taking a turn for the worse.
Carefully avoid insults, shouting that wakes the neighbours, and threats to
leave each other every time you have a disagreement.
