According to researchers at Bristol Medical School (UK), at the age of 60, people who spend more time doing light or intense physical activity, including slow walking, stretching, cycling, dancing and gardening, than those who sit down have better cardiovascular health. 10 minutes of moderate or vigorous physical activity is associated with a 3.7% reduction in leptin levels in men and a 6.6% reduction in leptin levels in women, a hormone involved in inflammatory processes. 10 minutes of low-intensity physical activity increased levels of interleukin, a protein essential for protecting the immune system, by 0.6% in men and 1.4% in women. Retirement is an ideal time to promote physical activity. So it's a good idea to start exercising every week, at a pace that suits you.
