Rehabilitation
and health professionals from Togo were equipped on the use of CAST (Clubfoot
Adminidtrative System), an application for the collection and analysis of data
on clubfoot pathology. This was done during a capacity building training held
on 16 and 17 February 2023 at the Centre Nationale d'Appareillage Orthopédique
(CNAO-Lomé).
During
two days, the participants received a detailed presentation of the Clubfoot
Administrative System application. The trainers explained the different
functionalities of the application, including managing patient information,
scheduling appointments, monitoring treatment progress and storing scanned
documents. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss
the use of the application in their daily clinical practice.
For
Dr. Hamadi Arama, trainer, the CAST application is very useful in the effective
management of this congenital condition.
« This application makes it possible to schedule appointments,
to know how many patients are expected during the day and, if a patient misses
an appointment, to make arrangements such as going to the patient's home or
calling him/her to make him/her aware of the usefulness of continuity of
treatment ».
At
the end of the training, participants are expected to master the different
functionalities of the application, notably the recording of information, the
respect of the different steps of CAST, and the protection of patients' data.
Patient data is protected. Only the clubfoot treatment programme managers and
partners have access to the information for use.
The
CAST application is provided by the Miraclefeet programme partner. It can be
used on a variety of devices including desktops, smartphones and tablets,
allowing the CAST community to track performance indicators.
