Sport
is now revealing its unsuspected therapeutic potential, acting as a veritable
preventive medicine against certain dreaded afflictions. These include
Alzheimer's disease. According to the latest WHO data published in 2020,
Alzheimer's/Dementia deaths in Togo reached 328 or 0.66% of total deaths. The
risk of developing Alzheimer's can be reduced by regular physical activity.
By
stimulating the creation of new neurons and acting on well-being hormones,
physical exercise acts as a protective shield for the brain.
Zumba
This
discipline combines fitness and acrobatics, requiring strength, endurance and
flexibility. This rhythmic activity is often performed to music. A recent study
has highlighted its potential for slowing or even preventing Alzheimer's disease.
Zumba protects brain cells and reduces inflammation, opening up encouraging
prospects for future human studies.
Dance
In
all its forms, offers much more than simple entertainment. Several studies
suggest that it provides people with neurodegenerative diseases with a unique
space for expression, stimulating creativity, fostering social inclusion and
